Ah!
Some weddings you arrive at, and just know they’re going to be a dream.
Rob and Hayley are the kind of couple who take their love, faith, friendships and partying quite seriously, and their summer wedding was a beautiful example of that.
Their ceremony was at Capitol Baptist Church in Washington, DC, and their barbeque reception at Smokey Glen Farm in Gaithersburg. Anne Kelly of A Trendy Wedding did a phenomenal job with the designing, (never thought I’d see a checkerboard dance floor decorated with corn stalks and Japanese paper lanterns, but it worked so well!) and I loved how well Hayley’s vision of southern vintage + rustic elegance + patriotic charm came to life.
But besides the dappled light on rolling hills and tables of pie and root beer floats and candlesticks and shutters and strawberry jam – the marvelous truth that they love and are loved was most memorable of all.
While we were off doing some portraits, the lovely Sarah got to photograph the cocktail hour / these details.
…because we were busy singing the National Anthem.
I photographed Mike & Diane’s wedding last fall at the same venue, and it was so fun to catch up! This was their advertisement for Smokey Glen, and they’ve since had a beautiful baby girl named Bella : )
One of my all-time favorites. He was such patient little man, waiting for his cake.
(success!)
It’s so refreshing to see your magnificent work capturing a summer wedding with all of this cold December weather. Your images are magic.
Such a beautiful wedding! The last image is magical!
