travels : puerto rico + california

Some years I travel a lot for work, and this is one such year. About half of my jobs are in another state or country, and I’m so so grateful. Grateful doesn’t seem true enough… more like a slight shock when I think back to all the experiences I’ve had because of my photography and the clients who hire me. I photographed some weddings recently in Puerto Rico and California, and I’d the pleasure of friends along for the ride so here are some shots of our good times together.

But first!

It’s easy to envy lives based on what you see online, and I think the biggest mistake is envying a photographer’s life. If you think about it, we’re professionals at the art of making a situation look interesting than reality. I’m always hesitant with posts like this since I know there are plenty of people who don’t get to travel and wish for it, and I don’t want to be just one more person instagramming my so-called perfect life. I’ve been thinking about this all year and I don’t know what the solution is.  There’s no point sharing the sad bits because this isn’t the place, but sometimes it feels misleading to show the grandness.

I don’t exactly know what I’m trying to say or hoping you’ll think – but just remember that everyone has their own brightest days, and each is learning to love the skies they’re under.

I know that this may have been a bit of a catch-up “what I’ve been up to” kind of post, but the beauty of some of these photos is spirit moving. Thanks for sharing, Rebekah!
