happy weekending! | ankle boots?

So I have a dilemma.

I’m quite a fan of the whimsical vintage dress + ankle boots look, now that we’re finally heading into glorious fall (!!!) I feel like this is the perfect transitionary outfit….but I just don’t know how easily it can be pulled off.

Super adorable, right?

I always feel like my inner style child is a 5’2 Free People-ish waif who can wear skinny jeans and flouncy blouses without a care. But in reality I’m 5′ 12″ (ha) and resemble a linebacker more than Tinkerbell. But! I’m looking for the right sort of boots and these are a few I liked.

I love the leather of these Steve Maddens – it’s worn and faded but they still look polished.

…I like the color of these a lot too, but can’t remember where I found them. (#researchfail)

Found these at Nordstrom Rack the other day and loved the soft rose color. They’re perfectly aged with an almost Victorian style, but unfortunately they were a smidge too small and my eyes couldn’t shush my whining feet.

So in the shallow end of life, this is my quandary. Do the short boots only work for darling little French girls? Or should I get over myself already and wear what I like? (And could Heaven please be eternally autumn?)

I’d probably love to hear your opinions.

hello. i think you know the answer to that question, but here’s some confirmation… you should just wear them! especially if it would make you happy. however, if you would be more concerned with the thoughts of others as you wear them, they may be more trouble than they’re worth, right?

anywho, i think they’re cute, and you should wear what you want. 🙂

  2. I think you can pull of just about anything, my dear. Personal opinion, though: if worn with a dress in the first picture, then no. you cannot pull it of. but if paired with a different, more defining dress / blouse+skirt combo (with the perfect belt, of course), then I think you could more than do it justice.

Linebacker?! Woman please. You are tall and skinny and graceful and gorgeous. I’m in line with Sarah above. Not the hugest fan of them with dresses, but skinny jeans and a blouse? Heck yes. You would rock it

At 19, I’m 6′ tall myself and understand where you’re coming from. I’m an equestrian, and I think it’s so cool that those boots are in fashion right now. (We pay high dollar for that sort of boot to compete in) Now I can finally justify wearing them to church! lol!
Anywho, as Sarah said, I think a defining flowey dress with a nice leather belt and cardigan would look great! As long as the dress compliments your figure, the vintage look will really make you stand out! 🙂

the summary of all these posts is……

    get them.

you’re fabulous and will find wonderful ways to make them a fantastic piece of your wardrobe that we’ll all gush over when we see you wearing them the next time we hang out with you. 🙂

I don’t particularly care about the question of the boots. But I so resonated with something you said that I had to comment. Yes, let heaven be eternally autumn!
