the wedgewood collective | studio in progress!

Carrie and I have been hard at work getting our studio home all set up and painted and decorated. We’ve been collecting eclectic furniture and updating them with new paint and fabrics and having the best of times! It was a much larger project than we anticipated but it’s exciting to be FINALLY nearing completion.

We’re hoping it’s ready by Saturday, since, well, about 100 people to show up to see it at our open house party. I keep reminding myself that it’s very much in progress, and it will still look pretty, even if it’s not perfect.

Even though we’re in business separately, we’ve decided to give our studio a name, to make it a place of it’s own. We’ve got a swell crafting area too so we’re talking about starting a blog for the studio to share projects and ideas on. When thinking about names we wanted something slightly European and hinting at our collaborative efforts, and once we realized that a blue-gray color was our theme throughout the house it was settled. We both love the look of cameos and came up with this idea, and then the talented Jen Olmstead took it from there to design our logo.

Don’t want to spoil the surprise for how it’ll look this weekend, but here are a few shots of the remodeling progress –

foyer, so thankfully repainted.

we’d originally planned for a deep indigo blue for impact but our landlord would’ve fired us, and the lighter color suits the wood better.

the kitchen and one of our many “WE COULD JUST PAINT IT!” projects.

Carrie, whitewashing our shared desk. when she’s not covered in paint she has a darling face to match her personality. best office buddy I could’ve asked for!

We’d underestimated the difficulty of finding The Perfect Gray, but have since learned our lesson. They’re so subtle! And all so different!

…and did I mention we’re a smidge obsessive? …to the extent of repainting the ceiling HALF A DROP of green different?

Crazy, but now so worth it : )

If you’d like to drop by our party on Saturday, please do! We’ll have plenty of good food and people to meet.

Otherwise, set up an appointment and I’ll have you over for tea and a chat.

Painting is nothing to apologize for being TOO obsessive about. Half-drops of green can make or break your world! Congratulations on your new studio space – jealous of you, just a half-drop of green’s worth.

I have to admit, I’m slightly envious of your Logo. It’s amazing.
And I feel you on the “we could paint it!” projects. You don’t even want to know about the projects littering my art tables, church office, and garage loft. It’s….. bad. 🙂

    Have a wonderful open house!
I am sincerely thinking about coming your way sometime in the latter spring.

  3. […] The studio has been a lovely work in progress with multiple paint colors chosen and re-chosen. Much to the chagrin of the lady at the Benjamin Moore Paint counter  who quickly hides herself in the back so she won’t have to add ” just one more drop of gray” to our ever -changing-minds paint can. To see more pictures of our studio check out Rebekah’s post here. […]

Hope your open house is going fabulously!

oh my goodness i LOVE that logo! and i totally know what you mean about trying to find the perfect grey. i painted my room grey and it seriously took me like 3 months to getting more and more paint chips and taping them on the wall, all to pick out a completely different one from the rack when i went to buy the paint. it’s not entirely the “perfect” grey, but it’s quite close.
